Obituary for Dwile Grant

Dwile Grant, 87 of Waubay died on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at his home in Waubay.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waubay, Rev. Charles Bunk will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date at Lakewood Cemetery, Waubay.

Memorial visitation will be prior to services at the church.

Dwile Archie Grant was born on September 16, 1929 to Archie and Elsie (Gleason) Grant on the family farm north of Blue Dog Lake near Waubay, South Dakota. He attended country school through the eighth grade near his family home. After he received his education he farmed the family farm.

He was united in marriage to Arlene Jacobson on November 17, 1951 at Waubay. After their marriage he couple lived and farmed the Grant family farm. To this union six children were born, Danny, Dwight, Debbie and Doyle and to children who died at birth. Arlene passed away in March 1987. He continued to farm the family farm until retirement in 1995 and he moved to Waubay. On May 30, 1997 he married Madonna Bindowski at Webster. They continued to live in Waubay until the present time.

He enjoyed gardening, yardwork, cooking, woodworking and feeding stray cats who ventured into his yard.

Survivors include his wife, Madonna of Waubay; one son Danny Grant of Milbank, SD; a step-son, Danny Wood of Fargo, ND; a step-daughter, Kathleen Wood of Wadena, MN; seven grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, two sons, Dwight and Doyle and a daughter, Debbie Wittrock, a granddaughter and a great granddaughter.
