Maxine Gutormson

Maxine Gutormson, 86 of Roslyn, passed away Thursday August 4, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Webster. Local visitation will be 12-2 P.M. closing with the Rosary on Sunday August 7, 2016 at Fiksdal Funeral Service. Mass of Christian Burial will be12 P.M. Wednesday August 10, 2016 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Swanville, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Maxine Josephine Lardy was born on Monday December 23, 1929 to Michael and Josephine (Smedstad) Lardy at Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Ottos Catholic Church in Webster and attended school in Roslyn, South Dakota, graduating with the class of 1947. On October 4, 1948, Maxine married the love of her life, Richard Gutormson Sr. at Webster. The couple moved to Omaha, Nebraska for a short time and then to Wilmar, Minnesota, where they raised their three children, Richard Jr., Vicki, and Pam. Besides Maxine’s work as a housewife, she also worked at Wilmar Poultry and as a home health care certified nursing assistant. Shortly before Richard Sr. passed away in 1999, the couple moved to Swanville, Minnesota. Maxine remained there for a few years until moving back to Roslyn in 2004. In 2010, she entered Strand Kjorsvig Living Center in Roslyn. Maxine was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed baking, gardening, crocheting, cleaning, and above all, time spent with her family and friends. Maxine will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Richard Jr. (Julie) Gutormson of Swanville, MN, Vicki Hileman and Pam Gutormson both of Little Falls, MN, two sisters, Gloria Haaseth of Roslyn, SD, and Joyce (Gary) Nelson of Mille Lacs, MN, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and three sisters.
