WEBSTER- Alma A. Peterson, 100 of Webster died on Thursday, January 04, 2007 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Her funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 8, 2007 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. William Olsen officiating. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Sunday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Monday. Alma Andrea Ohleen was born on Saturday, July 14, 1906 to David and Helena (Paulson) Ohleen on the family farm in Troy Township, Day County, South Dakota west of Lily. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Lily High School in 1924. She then attended Northern Normal in Aberdeen and received her teaching certificateand taught country schools in Day County. On July 20, 1930 she married Peter Daniel Peterson at Aberdeen, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home and farmed in Troy Township for forty five years. In 1975 the couple moved to Webster. Mr. Peterson passed away in 1976. After his death she continued to live in Webster, entering Bethesda Home in November 2004. While the couple lived near Lily she was a member of Lily Lutheran Church where she was active in church activities, Sunday School and women’s organizations. After they moved to Webster she became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was also active. She was a member of The Women’s Thursday Club and was an active volunteer for the Red Cross Gray Ladies for eighteen years. Her hobbies included flowers, reading, crocheting, cross-words and she loved to play scrabble. Alma passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 100 years, 5 months and 21 days. Survivors include two sons, Stanley (Norma) Peterson of Tucson, AZ and Wayne Peterson of Rochester, MN; two daughters, Gloria Jacobson of Prairie DuChien, WI and Mary Jo (David) Christensen of Phoenix, AZ; sixteen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers.
