Alvin Lee, 82 of Lily died on Thursday May 26, 2011 at his home near Lily. His funeral will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Fr. Les Campbell will officiate. Burial with military riteswill be at Highland Lutheran Cemetery near Lily. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday 4-7 P.M. with a 7 P.M. Prayer service. Alvin Richmond Lee was born on Monday, June 18, 1928 to John and Inga (Peterson) Lee on the family farm in Highland Township, Day County, South Dakota east of Lily. He was baptized at Highland Lutheran Church and confirmed at Lily Lutheran Church. He attended country school near his home and one year of high school at Webster and then graduated from Lily High School in 1946. He farmed with his father before entering the U.S. Army in February 1951, stationed in France during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge in January 1953 he returned to the family farm and farmed with his father. On June 27, 1964 he was united in marriage to Angela Campbell at Wheaton, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple farmed the Lee family farm until 1986 when he semi-retired and spent the winter months in Waubay. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church at Enemy Swim and belonged to the Brotherhood of St. Andrews at St. James Episcopal Church. He also was a member of the Waubay and Lily Legions and the Buffalo Plains Historical Society at Lily. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, reading, gardening and having afternoon coffee with friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories and reminiscing. Alvin passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011 in the room he was born in at the Lee family farm in Highland Township at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 8 days. Survivors include his wife, Angela; two sons, Richard Lee and Donald Lee of Lily, SD; three daughters, Kathy (Doug) Cressy of Arizona, Joni (Bill) Peyton of Watertown, SD and Josette Lee of Waubay, SD; two step-sons, Ray and Vern Rouillard both of Waubay, SD; one step-daughter, Sonia Rouillard of Waubay, SD; twenty grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Alvira Barringer, two infant children, Jody and Janel and a grandchild, Shawn Rouillard.
