August 31, 1935 — December 3, 2020

Alvin Steiner, 85 of Webster passed away Thursday December 3, 2020 at Strand Kjorsvig Living Center in Roslyn. Private family services will be held. Fiksdal Funeral Service is in charge of his arrangements. Alvin Harvey Steiner was born August 31, 1935 in Britton, SD to Frank Jr. and Kathryn (Vogel) Steiner. He was raised on the family farm in Eden, SD where they raised crops and livestock. Dad comes from a family of 11 kids where 8 of those kids were boys, so there was never a dull moment. Alvin entered the United States Army September 2,1959 and served the majority of his service in Fairbanks, AK. He was honorably discharged in 1961 and went back to the family farm up in Eden until he married Paula (Janisch) on July 18, 1964. Shortly after being married, the couple moved to Omaha, NE where they eventually had two daughters, Lyn and Lorie. They retired in 1997 and moved back to their home state of South Dakota to be closer to their first grandson that would be born in November. After retirement, Alvin enjoyed taking care of the yard, planting a big garden, tinkering in the shop and spending time with his grandsons. Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank Jr and Katheryn. Brothers Norbert, Laverne and Dan Steiner. Three sisters, Lorraine Waletich, Coletta Aldentaler and Ruth Pruitt. Survivors include his wife Paula of Webster, SD, daughters Lyn Steiner of Webster, SD, Lorie Steiner of Highmore, SD, two grandsons Lucas and Denver and a great-granddaughter, Hunter. He also is survived by four brothers: Elmer (Vivian) Steiner of Eden, SD, Florenz Steiner of Sisseton, SD, Fred (Jean) Steiner of Sun City, AZ, and Duane (Pam) Steiner of Conrad, MT, as well as many nieces and nephews.
