WEBSTER- Antonia Smith, 83 of Webster died on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at ManorCare Healthcare in Aberdeen. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster, burial will be in Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Tuesday 2-4 P.M. then continuing at the church 6-8 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Scriptural Prayer and Rosary Service. Antonia Marie Marko was born on Sunday, November 4, 1923 to Frank and Catherine Marko at Waubay, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm west of Webster in Day County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Otto’s Catholic Church in Webster and attended country school near her home. After she received her education she was united in marriage to Herbert Smith, Jr. on January 28, 1944 at Roslyn, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Webster. After she raised her family she was one of the original workers at Dakotah, Inc. and worked there until her retirement in 1986. Mr. Smith died on 2004. After his death she remained in her home until April 2007 when she entered ManorCare Healthcare in Aberdeen. She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. She raised flowers and always had a garden, enjoyed playing cards, sewing and following the Minnesota sports teams, the Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves. She loved having her family together so she could bake for them. Antonia passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Aberdeen, South Dakota at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 20 days. Survivors include one son, Herbert Lyle (Penny) Smith of Fenton, MI; two daughters, Judith (LeRoy) Opitz of Roslyn, SD and June (Jim) Wernsmann of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister-in-law, Maggie Marko of Aberdeen, SD; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, two daughters and ten brothers and sisters.
