WAUBAY- Arlene Owen, 78 of Waubay died on Friday, November 03, 2006 at her son’s home in Sioux Falls. A memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waubay, burial of her cremains will be at Lakewood Cemetery, Waubay. There will be no visitation. Fiksdal Funeral Service of Webster is in charge of the arrangements. Arlene Charlotte Peterson was born on Thursday, March 15, 1928 to Henry and Olga (Eidet) Peterson on the family farm in Blooming Valley Township, Roberts County, South Dakota south of Ortley. She was baptized and confirmed at Lebanon Lutheran Church and she attended country school near her home. After she received her education and after the death of her mother she lived with her father and helped on the family farm. On October 17, 1965 she married Olin “Bud” Owen at Lebanon Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple lived and farmed the Owen family farm in Lura Township, Grant County, south of Waubay. In 1995 the couple retired from farming and moved to Waubay. Mr. Owen passed away in September 2003. After his death she continued to live in Waubay until the present time. Arlene passed away on Friday, November 3, 2006 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 19 days. Survivors include one son, Scott Owen of Sioux Falls, SD; and one sister, Hazel (Earl) Kampen of Anchorage, AK. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother.
