Barbara Kay Anderson was born on Saturday, July 2, 1949 to Arnold and Lorene (Roth) Anderson at Webster, South Dakota. The family made their home near Bristol. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. Barb attended school in Bristol and graduated from Bristol High School in 1967. After high school she attended Northern State College in Aberdeen. She married Michael Sikkink on February 3, 1968. After their marriage the couple moved to Duluth, Minnesota and then in 1970 returned to a farm in Egeland Township, Day County, South Dakota south of Waubay. To this union three children were born, Michelle, Marc and Molly. In 1981 she moved to Bristol. She worked for Dacotah, Inc., Knudsen Drug, Pereboom Café and Webster’s Dakota Diner. “Caring for and serving people was more fun than work.” She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church where she was active in W.E.L.C.A. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, gardening going to the casino and always had a pot of coffee on for friends. Being a grandma was the joy of her life. Making play dough and cookies, watching movies, playing in the backyard, attending sports activities and spending time together with them made her a proud grandma. Survivors include her children, Michelle Schmit of Castlewood, SD, Marc (Carrie) Sikkink of Fergus Falls, MN and Molly (Sean) Heeney of Tea, SD; nine grandchildren, April, Baily, Cooper, Spencer, Morgan, Brooklyn, Kyla Jo, Jordan and Carter; one great grandson, Ryker; a special niece and great niece, Cathy Konteh and Amie Konteh; one sister, Lynne (Cliff) Nygaard of Bristol, SD; two brothers, Gary (Linda) Anderson and Bruce (Bonnie) Anderson both of Bristol, SD; sisters-in-laws, Mary (Raymond) Folger and Sally Ray; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Lorene, one sister, Carol Bury and a special friend, Don Miotke.
