Beatrice Wik, 89 of Webster died on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Heritage Village Chapel in Webster, Michael McCarlson will officiate. There will be no visitation prior to services. Fiksdal Funeral Service of Webster is in charge of the arrangements. Beatrice Elizabeth Beninga was born on a farm near Marietta, Minnesota to Henry H. and Ida (Nelson) Beninga on July 3, 1924. She attended country school in Mehurin Township. Upon graduation she received a scholarship from Mehurin Study Club and Mehurin 4-H Club to attend the West Central Agricultural School in Morris, Minnesota. She attended Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen and received her teaching certificate for rural schools in South Dakota. Beatrice taught school for four years in Deuel and Codington Counties. In 1957, she started training in X-ry at the Community Hospital in Madison, South Dakota and in 1959, she became a Registered X-ray Technologist. Beatrice worked in Madison, Webster, Redfield and Watertown, South Dakota hospitals and clinics. Beatrice is survived by three daughters, Gloria Nilson and Phyllis (Marvin) Strom both of Brookings, SD and Constance (Gary) Sauer of Webster, SD; a son-in-law, Donnie Bloom of Webster, SD; fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Dianne Bloom, a brother, Alfred and one grandson.
