WEBSTER- Berniece Nilson, 81 of Webster died on Tuedsay, August 8, 2006 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. Her funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 11, 2006 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. Laura Overbo officiating. Burial will be in the Tabor Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Thursday 4-8 P.M. and prior to services at the church on Friday. Berniece Irene Foster was born on Thursday, December 25, 1924 to Carey and Minnie (Johnson) Foster on the family farm in Valley Township, Day County, South Dakota south of Bristol. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. She attended country school and graduated from Bristol High School in 1942. She attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, received her teaching certificate and taught country schools in the Bristol area. On June 18, 1949 she married Justin Nilson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waubay. After their marriage the couple made their home on the Nilson family homestead in Lynn Township northwest of Webster. She was a homemaker, raising her family. And also worked at Webster Head Start for a short time and then at Lake Area Hospital in Webster, working in the kitchen for several years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster where she was active in Circle and W.E.L.C.A. She loved baking, cooking and embroidering. She enjoyed having coffee with family and friends. She also enjoyed being involved with her children and grandchildren’s activities. Berniece passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Bristol, South Dakota at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 14 days. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Justin of Webster; four sons, Jay (Wanda) Nilson of Brookings, SD, Trent Nilson and Tracy (Margaret) Nilson both of Waubay, SD and Keith (Tammy) Nilson of Webster, SD; two daughters, Judy (Darrel) Waddle of Webster, SD and Brenda (Paul) Shea of Clear Lake, SD; two sisters, Lila Machmiller of Bristol, SD and Bessie Meuer of Webster, SD; fifteen grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mabel Esche.
