David Aadland

PIERPONT- David Aadland, 53 of rural Roslyn died on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at his home near Pierpont. His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Skudesnes Lutheran Church near Pierpont, Rev. Howard Kjos officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the church cemetery. Closed casket visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Friday 4-8 P.M. David Jay Aadland was born on Friday, November 7, 1952 to Howard and Irene (Swanson) Aadland at Webster, South Dakota. The family lived near Pierpont where he grew up. He was baptized and confirmed at Skudesnes Lutheran Church near the family farm. He started grade school in Pierpont and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1971. During high school he was active and President of the F.F.A. David worked, loved and lived at the family homestead farm all of his life. He also raised hogs and worked at the local television tower. On February 16, 2003 David was involved in an accident the left him disabled from frostbite to his hands and feet. He spent a year in the Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn and was deeply grateful for the loving care he received while staying there. He was a member of Skudesness Lutheran Church where he was currently sexton of the church cemetery. He was always ready to lend a helping hand as for as he was able to. He welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with all people. Family was very important to David and he dearly loved and cherished them. Survivors include his mother, Irene Aadland of Roslyn, SD; one brother, Layne Aadland of Roslyn, SD; one sister, Randie (Kevin) Schlager of Valley City, ND; four nephews, Chris Aadland, Josh Solberg, Brandon (Heather) Solberg and Travis (Andrea) Solberg; and one great nephew, Rylee Solberg all of Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard and one brother, John.
