BRISTOL- David Gusenius 65 of Bristol died on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen. His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, Rev. Janet Miller will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. at Bethany Cemetery near Bristol. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Tuesday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Wednesday. fiksdalfuneral.com. Memorials may be directed to Bethany Cemetery Association. David Allen Gusenius was born on December 6, 1944 to John and Mary (Daggett) Gusenius at Bristol, South Dakota. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bristol and later confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. He attended Plainview District 148 country school and graduated from Bristol High School in 1961. After graduation he joined the South Dakota National Guard and served his six months active duty at Ft. Lewis, Washington and then returned to the family farm. On January 6, 1973 he was united in marriage to Janice Smith. After their marriage the couple made their home in Bristol. He was disabled in 1982 and continued to live in Bristol. He was an avid internet user, keeping in touch with family and friends by email. David passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Aberdeen, South Dakota at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 12 days. Survivors include his wife of Bristol, SD; one daughter, Marie Gusenius of Seattle, WA; two brothers, James (Maryann) Gusenius of Webster SD and Delmar (Karen) Gusenius of Cordes Lakes, AZ; one sister, Mary Jane Fiksdal of Bristol, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Della Iverson.
