Don Miotke, 73 of Webster died on Friday, May 06, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls. His Memorial Service will be at 3:00 P.M. Sunday May 8, 2011 at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Ottos Catholic Cemetery in Webster. Donnan Anthony Miotke was born on December 2, 1937 to Alfred and Matilda (Gruba) Miotke at Webster, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Grenville, South Dakota. He attended parochial school in Grenville until 1st grade and then went to Sunnyside country school near Pickerel Lake. After his education he worked as a farmhand in the Grenville area. In 1957, he joined the United States Air force where he achieved rank of Staff Sergeant. On August 20, 1960 he married Linda Callahan, to this marriage two children were born, Donnan Jr. and Sheryl. After Donnans honorable discharge in 1965, the couple moved back to the family farm near Pickerel Lake. For the next few years he worked with his dad on the mink ranch at Pickerel Lake. He then teamed up with Stanley Gruba and started a carpentry business. In 1976, Donnan and his brother Freddie started working together doing carpentry and stone masonry work. Donnan took great pride in his work and left a signature mark of a sunburst or a butterfly in each stone wall he created. He worked until he was no longer able. Donnan was a member of the Webster VFW. He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, hunting, fishing, carpentry, and most of all his family and friends. Survivors include: his son Donnan (Rhonda) Miotke Jr. of Aberdeen, SD, his daughter Sheryl Miotke-Gates of Purcellville, VA, one brother Alfred(Carla) Miotke of Pickerel Lake, SD, one sister Jackie Taylor of Rapid City, SD, two grandsons Andrew and David Gates of Purcellville, VA, a very special friend Barb Sikkink of Bristol, SD, Extended Family: Michelle Schmit of Castlewood, SD, Marc (Carrie) Sikkink of Fergus Falls, MN, Molly (Sean) Heeney of Tea, SD, April, Baily, Cooper, Spencer, Morgan, Brooklyn, Kyla and Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Ramona Sichmeller.
