Duane Grosek

Duane "Shorty" Grosek joined life's family on July 10,1946. On the evening of November 18, 2014, he followed his calling to go home to rest. He had such a fabulous laugh and a genuine caring for others, which endeared him to multitudes of people he met as he traveled over the roads of America--and lived life. His memory lives on through his wife Stacie, the love of his life, and his furburger Forrest the cat; daughters Kala Knight (Brian Sorensen), and Courtney Cutforth; grand children: Hailee (11) and Jerzee (7) Knight; Chase Henning (10) and Bristol Cutforth (5). Duane's immediate family mourn their son, brother and uncle: Fritz and Marion, Pat and Vald Birznieks, Mary Jean and Chuck Hesla, and Mike. Shorty's extended family, friends, are all saddened by his passing and welcome you to join us from 5-7 PM Friday night (11/21) at Fiksdal's, followed by a Masonic Service. Funeral service: Saturday November 22, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster. We thank you in advance for paying respect to Shorty. The entire class of Webster '64 rocks! Shorty taught all of us how to be strong. Peace. Sunday after the Vikes/Packers game, friends can gather from 3-5 PM in the Community Room at Victoria Estates, 1402 S. Marion Road, Sioux Falls. Jeans and jerseys are fine. Afterward, you may join us at the Pourhouse, 12th & Marion Road.

We can only say I think what nice man and will never forget his laugh and good sense of humor. Rest in peace my friend. We only have fond memories of Duane. The first memory that comes to mind is how we would run into Duane his family in the huge shopping malls in Minneapolis. Here we are in a city of millions of people and we would run into Duane and his family. We had a good laugh as it wasn't only once, it was a few times. Our most sincere sympathy to all of Duane's family and friends. Loren and Cathy Rumpca

My deepest condolences are extended to Shorty’s family and friends. His presence and fun-loving personality will truly be missed. He is a reason the class of 1964 was truly awesome! His 1964 Classmate, Helen (Hanson) Headley
