ROSLYN-Ellen Lorensberg, 98 of Roslyn died on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn. Her funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Fron Lutheran Church near Roslyn, Janet Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visistation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Wednesday 4-8 P.M. and prior to services on Thursday. Ellen Eveline Johnson was born on Monday, March 9, 1908 to Soloman and Mary (Dahlquist) Johnson on the family farm near Langford, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Highlanda Lutheran Church. She attended country school near her home and then worked for area families doing housework. On November 12, 1924 she married Rudolph Lorensberg at Ortonville, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple made their home and farmed the Lorensberg family homestead northwest of Roslyn in Independence Township, Day County. They farmed until 1978 when they moved to Roslyn. In 1982 they moved to Webster. Mr. Lorensberg passed away in September 1986. After his death she continued to live in Webster until she entered Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn in September 1998. She was a member of Fron Lutheran Church where she was active in Circle and Ladies Aide. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, and tending to her chickens on the farm. She enjoyed music, she always had the coffee on for family and friends. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren. Ellen passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 98 years, 1 month and 20 days. Survivors include two sons, Arnold Kenneth (Stella) Lorensberg of Clear Lake, SD and Raydon (Ardys) Lorensberg of Roslyn, SD; one daughter, Lois (Dennis) Mueller of Ellendale, ND; one sister, Hazel Lorensberg of Roslyn, SD; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren; three step-great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews (great, great-great & great-great-great). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Elmer.
