Ethel Ninke

WEBSTER- Ethel Ninke, 89 of Webster died on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Her funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. Jan FitzGibbon officiating. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Monday 4-8 P.M. and prior to services on Tuesday. Ethel Selma Cumine was born on Monday, September 18, 1916 to William and Sarah (Skor) Cumine on a farm in Corson County, South Dakota near Morristown. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Morristown High School in 1934. She moved to Minneapolis and attended business school and then worked for Investor Syndicate in Minneapolis until 1943. She then moved to Portland, Oregon where she was employed for the War Manpower Commission and the Social Security Adminstration. In 1950 she moved to Aberdeen where she was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. On June 21, 1953 she was united in marriage to Herbert Ninke at Webster, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home on a farm east of Webster, in the late 1950’s they purchased a farm in Morton Township where they lived until 1970 when they moved to Webster. She was employed at the Peabody Clinic and Day County Medical Center as insurance secretary from 1957 until her retirement in December 1984. Mr. Ninke passed away in 1985. She moved to Heritage Village Apartments in 2004 and entered Bethesda Home in November 2005. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Webster where she taught Sunday School for many years, was active in W.E.L.C.A. and helped with quilting. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ethel passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 3 days. Survivors include one son, David (Peggy) Ninke of Webster, SD; two grandsons, Michael and Brian Ninke of Webster, SD; two great grandsons and three step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Karen, one brother Clifford Cumine and one sister, Hazel Ninke.
