A candle was lit in memory of Gary Johnson

The surprising loss of Gary Johnson will be felt for a long time to come. Gary was so well known and deeply respected. I had the pleasure to first meet Gary when he was a teenager, working his way through high school by helping at the newspaper office. We shared some common interests, those decades ago, such as the National Guard, and also playing in a dance band. It was so fortunate that while visiting Day County a year ago, Karen and I were able to spend some time with Gary. Gary was always that durable friend you just knew would be there, and while many other things had changed, Thank Goodness Gary hadn’t.

Dear Johnson Family: Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. May you find comfort in the words written at Acts 24:15, where God promises to bring back to life those we have lost in death by means of a resurrection. In the future He will also do away with our enemy, death.(1Corinthians 15:26) This gives us the wonderful hope of being reunited with our loved ones forever. Until then, I hope the memories of Gary and these promises from God comfort you in the days ahead.
