Irene Jeanette Holland was born on Saturday, March 13, 1920 to Jacob and Isabelle (Sampson) Holland on the family farm in Independence Township, Day County, South Daktoa near Pierpont. She was baptized at Falnes Lutheran Church and later confirmed at Tabor Lutheran Church. She attended rural schools in Day County. After she completed school, Irene worked as a waitress and as a housekeeper for various families, she was most proud of the time she served as a housekeeper for Lewis Bicknell, a prominent attorney in Webster. Irene was united in marriage to Reuben Tvinnereim on April 13, 1941 at Tabor Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple farmed northwest of Webster, this is where their seven children were raised. She kept busy raising seven children, but the day her youngest daughter entered school, she decided she needed to keep busy, so she went to work as a cook at the Day County Hospital. Reuben passed away in 1980. Irene retired in 1990 just a few weeks prior to her 70th birthday. She continued to reside on her beloved farm north of Webster until entering Bethesda Home in Webster in December 2005. She was a very active member of Tabor Lutheran Church, where she held many offices. She enjoyed growing flowers and provide many bouquets for many events. She was proud of her Norwegian specialties, klub, lefse and kringla. Most of all Irene loved music, we are sure she is dancing in Heaven!
