WEBSTER- Joel Williamson, 91 of Webster and formally of Pierpont died on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at Bethesda Home in Webster. His funeral will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday October 2, 2006 at the Fiksdal Funeral Service Chapel in Webster. Burial will be in the Bergen Lutheran Cemetery near Bristol. Visitation will be Sunday 4 to 6 at the Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster and prior to the service in Monday. Joel Williamson was born on December 11, 1914 to William and Elen Marie (Sagbak) Williamson at Groton, South Dakota. In 1915 the family moved back to the Williamson family homestead in Lynn Township, Day County, South Dakota. Joel attended country school near his home in Lynn Township and was confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church. After he received his education he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed in the Black Hills in 1936 and 1937. He returned to the family farm where he helped his parents with the farm for many years. Joel married Jenean Wilcox Johnson on November 11, 1976 at Britton, South Dakota. They lived on the family farm until they moved to Pierpont in the fall of 1979. Jenean passed away in October 2002. He entered Bethesda Home in Webster in April 2004. The couple were members of the Pierpont Community Church in Pierpont and were active in local activities. He enjoyed hunting deer with friends in the Black Hills and fishing on the Missouri River. He enjoyed going to area threshing demonstrations. Joel passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 16 days. Survivors include two nieces, Gayle (Bob) Sagmoe of Sioux Falls, SD and Sandra (Ray) Cotter of Kirkland, WA; and six nephews, Paul (Melba) Schauer of Parker, CO, Jim Hudkins of Alameda, CA, Bruce (Belinda) Hudkins of Clayton, CA, Greg (Myrna) Williamson of Nampa, ID, Dennis Williamson of Redding, CA and Bob (Jeanne) Williamson of Freemont, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clifford and Nels Williamson and four sisters, Cora Schauer, Alfia Williamson, Ellen Williamson and Violet Hudkins.
