June Carlson of Webster died on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Manor Care Health Services in Aberdeen. Her funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 5, 2018 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster. Rev. Mike DeKraai will officiate. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday 5-7 P.M. and one hour prior on Friday. June Helen Helgeson was born on April 14, 1931 to Ole and Julia (Nelson) Helgeson in Webster, South Dakota along with a twin sister who died shortly after birth. She was the oldest of five children. She was baptized and confirmed in Webster. She attended Webster Elementary and Webster High School. After she received her education she worked at the Webster Bakery. In 1952 she married Duane Carlson and the couple were married for sixteen years. To this union three children were born, Wayne, Susan and Kim. She made her home in Webster and was employed by Mr. and Mrs. Beers at the Ben Franklin Store, Wagner’s Variety Store, Jim’s Ben Franklin which later became Jim’s V& S Variety. After Jim’s store closed she worked at Super Value, Ell’s Grocery and Laundromat and Webster School. Her son, Wayne died in 1994. In 1997 she retired, moved to Downtown Manor and took care of her granddaughter. She entered Bethesda Home in Webster in October 2015 and Manor Care Health Services in Aberdeen in April 2016. June enjoyed reading, music, search word puzzles, watching old movies and some crafts. She also enjoyed time with her family. June passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Aberdeen, South Dakota at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 16 days. Survivors include one son, Kim (Cindy) Carlson of Aberdeen, SD; one daughter, Susan (LeeRon) Paszek of Grenville, SD; a daughter-in-law, Joy Hanson of Washburn, ND; two sisters, Opal (Keith) Quale of Webster, SD and Dianne (Earl) Frazer of Thief River Falls, MN; sisters-in law, Marilyn Helgeson of Kearney, NE and Ramona Helgeson of Webster, SD; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son and two brothers, Olen and Donald “Red” Helgelson.
