WEBSTER – Leo Klein 90 of Webster passed away Monday December 23, 2019 at Strand Kjorsvig Living Center in Roslyn. ****Note Day Change****** Mass Of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday December 31, 2019 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. Spring inurnment will be at St. Otto’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be Monday 5-7 with a wake service at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Leo Anton Klein was born on February 11, 1929 to Anton and Theresa (Marko) Klein at Webster, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Otto’s Catholic Church in Webster. He attended parochial school at St. Ottos through the eighth grade and continued his education at Webster High School graduating in 1946. After his education, he remained on the farm assisting with the family farming business. In 1953, he enlisted in the United States Marines. He completed basic training in San Diego, California and was then stationed in Korea until his honorable discharge in 1955. On June 11, 1956, he was united in marriage to Leona Koenig. The couple made their home on the Klein family farm southwest of Webster. Leo continued to farm for many years. He also took on an extra job laying carpeting for a number of years. Leo was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church, Herbert McKennett Post 40 American Legion, as well as VFW Post 4690 both of Webster where he served on the Honor Guard for a number of years. He was a kind man who enjoyed socializing. He was an avid fisherman and loved sharing his many fishing stories with friends and family. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing, but more than anything, he cherished time spent with his family. Leo passed away Monday December 23, 2019 at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 12 days. He will be greatly missed by his wife Leona of Webster, SD, three sons; Greg (Ginny) Klein of Watertown, SD, Mark (Carlene) Klein of Flagstaff, AZ, and Jay (Korena) Klein of Apple Valley, MN, one daughter, Janet (Daniel) Goldsmith of Eau Claire, WI, one foster daughter, Julie (Mike) Thelin of Mansfield, SD, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Marcella “Sally” Klein, three brothers; Francis, John, and Joseph Klein, and three sisters; Mary Marie Klein, Margaret Hommel, and Catherine Shannon.
