Louise McKane

Louise McKane, 80 of Webster died on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen. Her funeral will be at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. John Hisel will officiate. Burial will be in the Andover Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday 5-7 P.M. and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Louise Margaret Nelson was born on Tuesday, July 21, 1931 to Louis and Mabel (Tjelle) Nelson at Webster, South Dakota. The family lived northeast of Langford where she grew up and attended school. The family moved to Webster where Louise graduated from Webster High School. After high school she worked at Security Bank. On July 25, 1953 she was united in marriage to James McKane, Jr. After their marriage the couple made their home on a farm southeast of Andover where they started their family; Krista, Gregory, Kurt, James III, Shawn and Karla. Louise drove school bus for Andover and helped her husband on the farm. She enjoyed farm life. The couple retired and moved to Webster in 1979 and began going south and traveling throughout the United States. Jim passed away in March 2003. After his death she continued living in Webster where she enjoyed her grandchildren, her dogs, embroidering and was an avid reader. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for many years and held all their positions. Louise passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Aberdeen, South Dakota at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 22 days. Surviving her are three sons, Greg McKane ( Lori Ash) and Kurt McKane ( Barb Reetz) of Bristol, SD and James (Mavis) McKane III of Andover, SD; three daughters, Krista McKane of Webster, SD, Shawn Sigdestad ( Roger Mohr) of Watertown, SD and Karla (Mark) Vehe of Bristol, SD; one brother, Russell (Gwen) Nelson of Bloomington, MN; fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
