Aberdeen – Mabel L. Dahl, 98 of Aberdeen and formerly of Webster died on Sunday December 20, 2009 at Manor Care in Aberdeen. Her funeral will be at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. Carol Iwerks and Clarence Grebner will officiate. Burial will be at Egeland Lutheran Cemetery south of Waubay. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster one hour prior to services on Wednesday. fiksdalfuneral.com. Mabel Lillian Dahl was born on Tuesday, October 24, 1911 to Peder J. and Mary (Olson) Dahl on the Olson family homestead in Egeland Township, Day County, South Dakota south of Waubay. She was baptized at Egeland Lutheran Church. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Waubay High School in 1928. After she received her education she lived with her parents and brothers on the family farm and helped care for them. In 1971 she, along with her brothers retired from farming, sold the farm and moved to Webster. After the last of her brothers passed away she sold their home in Webster and moved to Aberdeen to be nearer to relatives. On December 3, 2009 she entered Manor Care in Aberdeen. Mabel loved to read and read up to five books a week until her eyesight failed. She also enjoyed traveling to Canada to visit relatives which she had done many times, visiting with family members and having coffee with friends.. Mabel passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Aberdeen, South Dakota at the age of 98 years, 1 month and 26 days. Survivors include two nephews, Warren Grebner of Aberdeen, SD and Clarence (LaVonne) Grebner of Volga, SD; a niece, Rev. Carol (Don) Iwerks of Aberdeen, SD; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ole, Albin and Melvin and three sisters, Petra Grebner, Martha Anderson and an infant sister.
