ROSLYN- Marlys Wasilk 56, of Roslyn died on Sunday, August 19, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Her funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Roslyn Lutheran Church in Roslyn, with Janet Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Fron Lutheran Cemetery near Roslyn. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Tuesday 4-8 P.M. and prior to services on Wednesday. Marlys Rae Gilbertson was born on Wednesday, December 13, 1950 to Melvin and Ruby (Monshaugen) Gilbertson at Webster, South Dakota. The family lived on a farm northwest of Roslyn in Liberty Township where she grew up. She was baptized and confirmed at Fron Lutheran Church near Roslyn. She attended grade school in Roslyn and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1969. She then attended Northern State University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secretarial Science. On June 29, 1974 she married Wayne Wasilk at Fron Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple made their home in Roslyn until 1979 when they purchased her parents farm. She was employed in Medical Records at Day County Hospital (Sanford Hospital) in Webster and then was employed as a bookkeeper and bank manager at Dacotah Bank in Roslyn and then at First National Bank in Eden. She was a member of Fron Lutheran Church and later Roslyn Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren. She was a kind, loving and caring person who was always willing to help others. Marlys passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2007 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 56 years, 8 months and 6 days. Survivors include her husband, Wayne of Roslyn, SD; one son, Chad Wasilk of Roslyn, SD; one daughter, Nikki (Jamie) Kwasniewski of Webster, SD; two grandchildren, Ben and Kara Kwasniewski of Webster, SD; and her mother, Ruby Gilbertson of Roslyn, SD. She was preceded in death by her father and a son, Cory.
