Orlyn Evenson

WEBSTER- Orlyn Evenson, 90 of Webster died on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Bethesda Home in Webster. His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 7, 2005 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. William Olsen officiating. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service on Thursday 4-8 P.M. and prior to services on Friday at the church. Orlyn Francis Evenson was born on Tuesday, June 22, 1915 to Eddie and Hilda (Swanson) Evenson on a farm near Lily, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Highland Lutheran Church. He attended country school in Blaine Township, Clark County near his home and graduated from Bradley High School in 1934. He attended and graduated from business school in Aberdeen. On June 21, 1939 he married Vivian Davis at the Evenson family farm near Lily. After their marriage the couple made their home in Moorhead, Minnesota where he was employed by the Standard Brands Company. In the mid 1940’s they returned to the Webster-Lily area and was engaged in farming. In the fall of 1953 the couple moved to the Evenson family farm near Lily where he farmed until retirement. The couple loved to travel and spent the winter months in Arizona for 18 years. Mrs. Evenson passed away in June 2002. After her death he continued to live on the farm until November 2004 when he entered Bethesda Home in Webster. He was currently a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster and formally a member of Lily Lutheran Church in Lily where he was active in church activities. The couple also were active in Square Dancing. He loved visiting friends and family. He was a member of the Bradley School Board and served on Blaine Township Board. Survivors include two sons, Bob (Pat) Evenson of Alexandria, LA and Sid (Tina) Evenson of Glendale, AZ; three daughters, Karen (Joe) Rodriguez of Lakewood, CO, Anita (Darrell) Solberg of Sioux Falls, SD and Jackie (Del) DeVries of Knoxville, TN; one brother, Verne (Carol) Evenson of Fullerton, CA; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
