WENATCHEE, WA- Orvilla Syverson 88 of Wenatchee and formally of Webster died on Monday, February 27, 2006 at Wenatchee. Her funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 6, 2006 at American Lutheran Church in Webster. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Sunday 2-4 P.M. The casket will not be open prior to services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made to Central Washington Home Health and Hospice, C/O 903 Red Apple Road, Wenatchee, WA 98801. Orvilla Angeline Brakhage was born on April 23, 1917 to Henry and Thea (Hanson) Brakhage in Morton Township, Day County South Dakota near Webster. Orvilla and her six siblings lived on the family farm south of Webster where she attended Rosebud Elementary School and then graduating from Webster High School in 1934. On May 18, 1935 she married Harvey Syverson at Clark, South Dakota. They were both employed at Knapp’s Bakery and later at the Webster Bakery and Coffee Shop. Their son, Richard was born in 1936. During World War II the young family decided to move to Los Angelos, California where they were both employed in the defense industry. After the war, they returned home and followed Harvey’s dream of farming, living on farms in the Roslyn and Webster areas for many years. Their daughter, Janet was born in 1945. Orvilla worked at Hesla’s Convenience Store for a short time before beginning a 43 years career as bookkeeper and proofreader at the Reporter and Farmer Newspaper in Webster. She loved working at the newspaper and had an abundance of fond memories and friendships made while working there until just after her eighty-third birthday. She was a longtime member of the American Lutheran Church. Orvilla passed away on Monday, February 27, 2006 at Wenatchee, Washington at the age of 88years. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Blaesing of Wenatchee, WA; two grandsons, Scott Blaesing and Bill Syverson; three granddaughters, Ann Touhey, Amy Murphy and Sara Nagel; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law, James Wattier; and three sisters-in-law, Norma Syverson, Billie Syverson and Ruth McGuire. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harvey in 1976, a son, Richard in 1990, four sisters and two brothers.
