Raymond Engelhart

Raymond Engelhart 70, of Webster and formerly of Waubay, died Sunday October 16, 2011 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 21, 2011 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay, Rev. Jeffrey Kalb officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery, Waubay. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Friday at the church. Raymond Peter Engelhart was born on Saturday, February 15, 1941 to Donald and Mildred (Jorgenson) Engelhart at Peabody Memorial Hospital in Webster, South Dakota. The family lived at Waubay where he grew up. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Church of Christ in Waubay. He attended school and graduated from Waubay High School in 1959 and then attended S.D.S.U. in Brookings for a year. In 1960 he started farming and raised pigs and Angus cattle. He was united in marriage to Donna Moyer on August 1, 1970 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Watertown, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Waubay where he continued to farm. Because of health reasons, he retired from farming and entered Bethesda Home in Webster in March 2003. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay and served on the Waubay City Council. He enjoyed his family and friends, especially his little grandson, Leroy Raymond Johnson. Raymond passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 1 day. He is survived by his wife, Donna of Waubay; one daughter, Jennifer (Russell) Johnson of Bristol, SD; one grandson, Leroy Raymond Johnson; his mother, Mildred Engelhart of Watertown, SD; one sister, Lois (Jim) Tesch of Cold Spring, MN; one sister-in-law, Pam (Keith) Holscher of Bismarck, ND; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Moyer of Watertown, SD. He was preceded in death by his father, his father-in-law, Mervin Moyer and a brother-in-law, Roger Moyer.
