Virginia Ann Burchardt was born on February 22, 1925 to John and Dora (Snaza) Burchardt at Chicago, Illinois. The family then moved to the Waubay, South Dakota area. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. She attended parochial school in Grenville, South Dakota. After her education she moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where she worked at the Pillsbury Flour Company for a few years before returning to Waubay. Upon her return, she cleaned at Dinkles’ Resort on Enemy Swim Lake near Waubay and this is where she met Gerald. She and Gerald farmed until their retirement. Gerald passed away February 11, 2008. Virginia then moved to assisted living in Florence, South Dakota where she resided until her passing. Virginia was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary (for 50 plus years) and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Altar Society. I met Virginia several years ago at Country View Assisted Living when I came to visit my mother, Elvera Sackreiter. Virginia and my mother enjoyed visiting together and became friends. I always loved seeing Virginia's big smile when I walked through the front door! My condolences to her family. May God comfort you as you mourn her loss. Betty Wernberg
