Alice Josephine Olson

Alice J. Olson 96 of Webster died Thursday January 8, 2015 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Her funeral will be 1:30 P.M. Wednesday January 14, 2015 at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster, Mike McCarlson will officiate. Burial will be at Tabor Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-7 P.M. closing with a 7 P.M. prayer service at Fiksdal Funeral Service and prior to services on Wednesday. Alice Josephine Dalager was born on Friday, June 28, 1918 to Andrew and Josephine (Nilson) Dalager on the family farm in Lynn Township, Day County, South Dakota. She was baptized at Tabor Lutheran Church near Webster. She attended Green Back #150 country school near her home and then attended Roslyn High School. She lived in Minneapolis for a short time and returned to the Webster area. She began working for Odin Olson and then on October 17, 1940 the couple were married at Waubay. The couple made their home on his farm in Lynn Township and later moved to Holmquist. In 1960 they moved to Webster. Alice worked for the telephone company and did housekeeping jobs for Webster residents. Odin passed away in 1982. After his death she continued her housekeeping jobs until her retirement in 1999. She also continued to live in her own home and in later years was able to remain there with the help of her daughter, LuAnn. Alice was a member of Tabor Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aide and the quilting group. She enjoyed music, singing, gardening, caring for her peonies and her cats. She passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 11 days. Survivors include one son, Curtis (Jan) Olson of Phoenix, AZ; daughters, Corinn McDonald of Green Bay, WI, Beverly Carr of Webster, SD, Barb (Bob) Meis of Fergus Falls, MN, Linda (Dan) Opsal of Buffalo, MN and LuAnn Olson of Webster, SD; one sister, Margaret Lindroth of Roslyn, SD; sixteen grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, four brothers and three grandsons.
