Alice Marie Witmer

Alice Witmer 87 of Webster and formerly of Sioux Falls died Tuesday February 3, 2015 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Memorial Services will be Saturday April 25, 2015 at 1 P.M. at Heritage Village Chapel in Webster, Rev. Justin Iverson will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Webster Cemetery. Alice Marie Frame was born on Tuesday September 20, 1927 to Glen and Mildred (Snare) Frame at Iowa. She attended school at Lennox, Iowa graduating in 1943. After graduation she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she attended secretarial school. While in Lincoln, she was baptized and confirmed into the Methodist faith. After the completion of secretarial school she began working at Remington/Rand Company in Lincoln where she worked with Joe Witmer. It was this work relationship that introduced her to Bill Witmer. On July 8, 1947, Alice and Bill Witmer were united in marriage, and to this union three children were born. The couple made their home in Lincoln for a short time before moving to Palmyra, Nebraska. Alice then became employed by Northeast Public Power and later Bill also took a job there. After Eastern Nebraska Public Power merged the couple was relocated to Omaha, Nebraska. In 1969, the family moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where Alice was a very active member at Asbury Methodist Church for 42 years and volunteering for the Red Cross. She also spent many hours delivering “meals on wheels” to the elderly in Sioux Falls. Alice had a unique talent creating numerous beautiful stained glass windows in many Methodist churches across the state of South Dakota. In 2009, the couple moved to Webster and resided at Heritage Village until 2011 when they entered Bethesda Home. Alice took great pride in her family and will be missed by all who knew her. Alice passed away Tuesday February 3, 2015 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 14 days. She is survived by her husband Bill of 67 years of Webster, SD, one son Steve (Marcia) Witmer of York, NE, two daughters Nancy (George) Schempp of Rockville, MN and Mary (Terry) VanHunnik of Webster, SD, ten grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, three brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
