Ann M. Pingle

Ann M. Pingle, 101, of Bristol, SD, and formerly of Webster, SD, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Webster, SD and will be livestreamed on Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page. Father Doug Binsfeld will officiate. Luncheon will follow immediately after the service at the Parish Hall. We will depart from the church at 12:30 p.m. for burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Grenville, SD.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Webster and will close with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m.

 

 

Ann Marie Herrick was born on May 25, 1922, in Grenville, South Dakota to Joseph and Anna (Rhinelander) Herrick. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grenville. Ann attended parochial school and obtained her 8th grade diploma by 6th grade. After her education she worked on a farm northeast of Grenville.

She married William “Bill” Pingle in November 1944, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grenville. The couple lived in Grenville with her parents, Joseph, and Anna. To this union were two daughters, Helen and Marie. Over the years Ann worked at Powers Produce where she cracked eggs, waitressed at Bain’s Café and later the Galley, cut fabric at Dakotah Factory, and cleaned cabins at Pickerel Lake. After the flood in 1996, Ann moved to Webster where she worked in the Webster School Lunchroom. Ann entered the nursing home care system at 91 years old.

Ann was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, playing cards, and loved visiting with family and friends over a cup of coffee.

Ann entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 101 years, 1 month, and 18 days.

Ann will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Helen Reetz of Webster, SD, and Marie (Joe) Varholik of Heber Springs, AR. Three grandchildren, Barb (Kurt) McKane of Bristol, SD, Angela Larrison of Little Rock, AR, and Andrew Varholik of Greenbriar, AR. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Anna; her husband William “Bill”; son-in-law Donald “Don” Reetz; grandson, David Reetz; four brothers, Andrew, Tony, Joseph “Joe”, and Thomas “Tommy”.
