Ardell Poeggel 80 of Bryant died Wednesday March 5, 2014 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown. Her funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday March 10, 2014 at Falnes Lutheran Church near Langford. Spring burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 Sunday at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday March 13, 2014 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant, South Dakota Ardell June Hoines was born on Friday June 30, 1933 to Magnus and Constance (Ness) Hoines on the family farm near Langford, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Falnes Lutheran Church near Langford. She attended country school across the road from the Hoines family farm and graduated from Langford High School in 1951. She attended Northern in Aberdeen, South Dakota and obtained her teaching certificate. She taught country school in Day County near Pierpont, South Dakota. On August 30, 1959 she married Heinrich (Hank) Poeggel at Falnes Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Aberdeen where Ardell worked as a secretary at Woodman Refrigeration. In 1961 the couple moved to Sioux Falls where Hank worked for KELO TV on the set of Captain 11 and Ardell worked as an office manager. In 1963 they moved to Bryant, South Dakota where Ardell was employed by Bryant State Bank until her retirement. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant, American Legion Auxiliary, and Park View Auxiliary. She was the caretaker for the boulevard at the nursing home in Bryant for many years. She took great pride in keeping the boulevard groomed perfectly and showered in flowers. Ardell and Hank thoroughly enjoyed traveling. Their destinations included Norway, Germany, Jamaica, and the Virgin Isalands. She also enjoyed rosemaling, cooking, making lefse, and keeping their yard in a picturesque manner. Ardell enjoyed mentoring/teaching confirmation and Sunday school. She sang in the church choir and knew her family tree like the back of her hand. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband Hank of Bryant, SD, one brother Adrian (Annette) Hoines of Aberdeen, SD, two sisters Annette (Rodney) Kervin of Cedar Rapids, IA, Arlene Williamson of Webster, SD, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Magnus and Dale Hoines.
