Arden Stave

WEBSTER- Arden Stave, 82 of Webster and formerly of Pierpont died on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Bethesda Home in Webster. His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Skudesnes Lutheran Church near Pierpont, Rev. Jan FitzGibbon officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service (fiksdalfuneral.com) on Friday 4-7 P.M. and in the church prior to services on Saturday at the church. Arden Olen Stave was born on Tuesday, October 5, 1926 to Melvin and Selma (Olson) Stave at Pierpont, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Langford Lutheran Church. He attended country school in Homer Township. After he received his schooling he farmed with his father on the family farm in Lynn Township, Day County near Pierpont until his parents retired in 1963. On June 30, 1963 he married Ilene Umiker at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, South Dakota. In 1978 Arden and Ilene purchased the Stave family farm in Lynn Township. They enjoyed livestock and grain farming until retiring in 2002. The couple moved to Webster in 2006. He moved into Sun Dial Manor in Bristol in February 2008 and became a resident of Bethesda Home in Webster in April 2008. Arden was a member of Skudesnes Lutheran Church near Pierpont where he served in many positions. He loved hunting, fishing, square dancing, camping, playing cards, watching television, attending sports events and spending time with family. He was a quiet, gentle loving man. Arden passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Bethesda Home in Webster, South Dakota at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 5 days. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 45 years, Ilene of Webster; one son, Leslie (Wanda) Stave of Ankeny, IA; two daughters, Barbara (Burt) Andersh of Watertown, SD and Ardis (Steve) Moeller of Brandon, SD; one sister Clarice (Marvin) Mathiason of Webster, SD; one brother-in-law, Glenn Umiker of Gettysburg, SD; six grandchildren, Brittany and Brooke Andersh, Nicholas, Courtney and Carmen Moeller and Emily Stave. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Burton.
