Barbara Hagen 77, of Webster died Monday July 23, 2012 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen. Her funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Roslyn Lutheran Church, Rev. Charles Bunk and Barbara Bunk, A.I.M. officiating. Burial will be in the Roslyn Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at on Thursday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Friday. Barbara Joyce Ronshaugen was born on Tuesday, April 9, 1935 to Elmer and Lavina (Metz) Ronshaugen at Webster, South Dakota. The family lived on a farm west of Roslyn where she started school. She was baptized at Fron Lutheran Church and confirmed at Roslyn Lutheran Church. When she was twelve the family moved to a farm east of Roslyn. She continued school there and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1954. She then attended Northern State College in Aberdeen and graduated in 1956 with an Elementary Education certificate. She moved to Watertown where she taught second grade and then, in 1957 returned to Roslyn where she taught first and second grade for two years. On June 29, 1957 she was united in marriage to James Hagen at Roslyn, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home and farmed the Hagen family farmstead south of Roslyn. In 1977 she, along with her daughter took nurse’s aide training in Webster and began working at Lake Area Hospital in Webster. The couple sold their farm in 2005 and moved to Webster. She continued working at various positions at the hospital until her retirement in June 2010. The couple moved to Sun Dial Manor in June 2012. She was a member of Roslyn Lutheran Church where she was active in Circle, Ladies Aide, W.E.L.C.A., Church Council, Bible Study, and was Sunday School Superintendent for many years. After they moved to Webster she also attended American Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking, gardening, spending time at their cabin at Enemy Swim and Study Club. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Jimmy; two sons, Scott (Robi) Hagen of Aberdeen, SD and Kent Hagen of Brookings, SD; a son-in-law, Sam Reese of Webster, SD; three sisters, Betty (Roger) Stavig and Bonnie (Arnie) Anderson both of Webster, SD and Martha (Gene) Livingston of Salem, SD; and four grandchildren, Amanda Reese, Tyler Hagen, Annie and Abbie Hagen. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Cindy Reese.
