Benjamin "Ben" Jorgenson

Benjamin "Ben" Jorgenson, 25, of Waubay, South Dakota, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 near Waubay.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at the Waubay High School gymnasium in Waubay and will be livestreamed on Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page. Pastor Kirk Snaza will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the Waubay High School gymnasium. Interment will be at J-Heart Ranch Cemetery on the family farm near Waubay.

Ben Jorgenson was born March 14, 1997 to Kurtus and Donna Jorgenson, the eighth of ten children. He accepted Jesus as His Lord and Savior at a very young age. Ben grew up and lived at the family farm near Waubay. After graduating from Home-school. He worked with Curtis Gruba in carpentry. Curtis was also Ben’s best friend. They often went boating, fishing, snow skiing, and bowling together. 

Ben had a great love for trapping. His most recent catch was a huge 80 lb. beaver.

Ranch rodeoing and riding horse with siblings and friends was a big part of Ben’s life. He also raised Charolais cattle and introduced a Red Angus bull into his herd last year, “Big Ben”.

Two years ago, Ben began working for Andrew Butler in construction. Andrew was like a big brother to him. Ben kept Andrew’s lunch breaks quite interesting as they were spent shooting pistols or attempting to set a large bear trap, etc.

One of Ben’s dreams was to go to Alaska to trap, fish, and hunt.

Another dream was to get married, or in his words, “get a girl”. This dream was beginning to be realized when he met a special young lady that he was becoming friends with.

Ben saw the beauty in God’s creation all around him. He loved gardening and landscaping. He took pictures of sunsets and anything in nature that caught his eye. 

Ben had a great sense of humor and a big heart for giving gifts.

Ben will be forever loved and greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. We take comfort in knowing that Ben is safe in the arms of Jesus
