Bernice Rasmussen

Bernice E. Rasmussen, 86, of Aberdeen, SD and formerly of Webster, SD passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 at Prairie Heights Healthcare in Aberdeen. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday October 12, 2020 at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster and will be live-streamed on our Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Bernice Elaine Rasmussen was born on May 27, 1934 to Edwin Gilbert and Julia Bergetta (Sandal) Rasmussen in Webster, SD. She attended country school in Raritan township and graduated from Roslyn High School as class Valedictorian in 1953. She worked in Minneapolis as a waitress, cashier and an office clerical worker. In 1971 she moved to Webster and lived with her parents while recovering from an extended illness. In 1983 she moved to Aberdeen, SD and cared for her mother and friends in Webster, Aberdeen, and Ipswich, SD. Bernice was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster. During her young years she loved to read, play the accordion, sing, dance, ride horseback, crocheting, and writing poetry. She loved music and being around people. Bernice passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 at the age of 86 years 4 months and 9 days. Bernice is survived by her sister, Evelyn (Floyd) Hodnett of Plymouth, MN, two nephews, one niece, one grandnephew, and 3 grandnieces. She is preceded in death by her parents.
