Betty E. Hesla, 90, of Webster passed away Wednesday March 18, 2020 at her home in Webster. Visitation open to the public will be 5-7 P.M. Friday March 20, 2020 at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster. Please limit time as we are trying to comply with social distancing during visitation. A private funeral service and burial will be held for the family. Fiksdalfuneral.com. Betty Elaine Jeske was born on November 8, 1929 to Emil and Lula (Veritzen) Jeske in Webster, South Dakota. She attended country school near the family home in Morton Township through 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Wendell Hesla on December 9, 1947 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The couple made their home on Hesla family farm, where together they raised five children: Janice, Timothy, Peter, Kent, and David. Betty went on to obtain her GED followed by nursing school at LATI in Watertown where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree in 1974. Betty and Wendell moved off the farm and into Webster in 2000. Over the years Betty worked in the medical field at the Webster school as nurse, SK living Center in Roslyn, and Day County Medical Center in Webster. She retired in 2004. Wendell passed away in 2017. Betty continued to live at their home in Webster. Betty was a card player and enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. Betty passed away on March 18, 2020 at the age of 90 years, 4 months, and 10 days. She is survived by four sons, Timothy (Emily) Hesla of Grantsburg, WI, Peter (Sheila) Hesla of Aberdeen, SD, Kent Hesla and David (Rosemary) Hesla of Webster, SD, and one daughter, Janice (Kirk) Markland of Tucson, AZ. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven sisters, Jean Vannet, Adeline Rhode, Melda Bunn, Marilyn Glazer, Bertha Stottler, Doris Kennedy and Delores Hesla and one brother, Roger Jeske.
