BRISTOL- Brenda Harms 51, of Bristol, died on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Her funeral will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol with burial in the Bristol Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service (fiksdalfuneral.com) in Webster on Wednesday, 4-8 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service and then one hour prior to services at the church. Brenda Dawn King was born on Wednesday, August 28, 1957 to Milton and Ruby (Luschen) King at Huron, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. She attended elementary school and then graduated from Huron High School in 1975. She attended Stewart’s School of Hairstyling in Aberdeen and also took classes at Huron College. She worked at Creative Printing in Huron. In 1988 she, along with her son, Scott moved to Pierre where she was employed at Merriman Printing Co. and Super 8 Motel. While working at Super 8 she met Michael Harms. In 1989 she and Scott moved to Bristol. On May 27, 1989 she was united in marriage to Michael Harms at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. After their marriage the couple made their home in Bristol. She worked at Webster Scale Service and Dakota Diner in Webster and the Hot Spot in Bristol. She also was a substitute bus driver for Bristol Schools. Currently she was a bus driver for Groton Schools, a Para Professional at Groton High School and worked part-time at Cenex C Store in Webster. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. She loved to read, cooking for her family, helping students and spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and caretaker of her family. Brenda passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 51 years, 5 months and 18 days. Survivors include her husband, Michael of Bristol; two sons, Scott King (and fiancée, Elizabeth Lando) of Zumbrota, MN and Garrett Harms of Bristol, SD; one daughter, Sarah Harms of Bristol, SD; her father, Milton King of Huron, SD; five sisters, Barb Kjellerson, Bonnie Sexton & Penny (Jerry) Dooley all of Huron, SD, Rosemary (Dick) Lancaster of Warner Robbins, GA & Donna (Brad) Warren of Salt Lake City, UT; a special Godchild, Kennedy Johnson of Webster, SD; and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and a brother, Donald.
