BRISTOL- Carol Johnson, 88 of Bristol and formerly of Pierpont died on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday June 15, 2019 at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster; Rev. Chris Strohm will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery near Langford. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday. Carol Darlene Vehe was born on December 16, 1930 on the family farm to Leroy and Mabel (Bohn) Vehe. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. She graduated from Bristol High School in 1948. She attended a year of business school and worked various jobs including Davidson Oil Co. and the bank in Bristol. On February 7, 1954 she was united in marriage to Dean Johnson at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. After their marriage the couple made their home on a farm near Pierpont which they later purchased. Living on the farm they raised their two sons, Mike and Kelly and farmed the land. Dean passed away in 1994. After his death Carol moved to Bristol and sons, Mike and Kelly took over the farming operation. In the fall of 1994 she began working at Sun Dial Manor where she retired in 2007. Carol loved their farm and visited the dogs and cats many times. Carol passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Bristol, South Dakota at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 27 days. Survivors include her son, Kelly (DiAnn) Johnson of Pierpont, SD; five grandchildren and thirteen grandchildren; half-sisters, Mary Smeins and Muriel Vehe; and three nieces, Barb, Carol and Pat. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Mike, one daughter, Kathy, one sister, Arlene Cox and a brother, Earl Vehe.
