Connie Bury

Connie Bury, 59, of Bristol, passed away, Friday, November 21, 2025, at Sanford Hospital Webster.

Funeral Services will be 1pm Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. Burial will be at the Webster Cemetery. Services will be live-streamed via Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page. 

Visitation will be Friday, November 28, 2025, 2-4pm at the funeral home.

Connie Lynn Johnson was born on September 17, 1966, in Webster, South Dakota, to Merle and Frances (Rider) Johnson. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Summit. In 1969, the family moved to Groton, where Connie began elementary school. In 1976, they settled on a farm near Bristol. Connie attended Bristol School and graduated in 1984. During her high school years, she babysat for many local families as she loved children. Connie continued her education at Lake Area Tech in Watertown, earning her degree in social work.

On September 12, 1994, Connie married the love of her life, Lyle Bury, in Webster, and together they made their home in Bristol. Throughout the years, Connie worked in several office positions throughout Day County, where she was known for her reliability, kindness, and steady presence.

Connie was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol and previously served on the Bristol City Council. She was a talented quilter and loved spending time with a good book or a favorite movie. She especially enjoyed the TV show Supernatural, cheering on NASCAR races, and—much to the amusement of those who knew her—made it very clear that she was not a fan of cats.

Connie passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, in Webster, South Dakota, at the age of 59 years, 2 months, and 4 days.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her husband, Lyle; her mother, Fran Morehouse, both of Bristol; her daughter Melanie (Troy) Beisch of Sioux Falls; and her beloved granddaughters, Cassie (Taylor) Beisch of Parker and Emily Beisch of Sioux Falls. She is also survived by her siblings: Mark (Stacy) Johnson of Zumbrota, MN; Duane (Jess) Morehouse of Devils Lake, ND; Corrine (Jerry) Lepp of Ashley, ND; and Debra (Dennis) Erdahl of Sioux Falls, SD; along with many nieces and nephews who adored her.

Connie was welcomed into heaven by her grandparents; her father, Merle Johnson; her infant daughter, Alana Bury; and her stepfather, Lowell Morehouse.

Her warm heart, gentle humor, and steadfast love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
