Fiksdal Funeral Service of Webster is in charge of the following arrangements: ABERDEEN- Darwin Richardt, 69 of Aberdeen formerly of Britton and Ortley died on Saturday April 25, 2009 at Manorcare Health Center in Aberdeen. His funeral will be 10:30 am Tuesday April 28, 2009 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jan FitzGibbon officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Aberdeen. Visitation will be Monday 4-7 pm at Fiksdal Funeral Service. fiksdalfuneral.com Darwin Dean Richardt was born on August 9, 1939 to Elmer and Hilma (Swanson) Richardt at Webster, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Ortley Free Lutheran Church in Ortley, South Dakota. He attended country school near his home in Roberts County south of Ortley. In 1957 he graduated from Waubay High School in Waubay, South Dakota. After high school he attended tech school in Fargo, North Dakota for auto mechanics. After his education he worked at the elevator in Ortley and later owned and operated The Farmers Bar in Eden, South Dakota along with working various other jobs over the years. On September 28, 1964 he was united in marriage to Sandra Helwig at Watertown, South Dakota. Darwin most recently was employed as the caretaker at Riverside Cemetery in Aberdeen, South Dakota. While living in Ortley Darwin served as the town mayor. He was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. He enjoyed playing cards, farming, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and visiting with family and friends. Darwin passed away at Aberdeen, South Dakota at the age of 69 years, 8 months, and 16 days. He is survived by two sons: Chad (Julie) Richardt of Ipswich, SD and Paul Richardt of Watertown, SD, three daughters: Donna (Eugene) Sattler of Webster, SD, Susanne (Kevin) Bain of Aberdeen, SD, and Kimberly Richard of Raton,NM, eight grandsons, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Mark, and one sister Bernice Holscher.
