Born on November 7, 1954 to Frank and Bertha (Rinas) Lewandowski at Peabody Hospital in Webster, South Dakota. David attended Alto Country School until the 8th grade and then attended Waubay High School. After graduating from Waubay High School he continued to live and work on the family farm.

In 1976 he met the love of his life Donna (Jensen) and was united in marriage on April 16, 1977, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay, SD. They were married for 48 years and blessed with 5 children.

A lifelong farmer, David dedicated his life to raising sheep, cattle, and crops. The land was not just his livelihood but his calling. Through long days and changing seasons. Farming was more than a profession to him - it was a way of life rooted in hard work, faith , and perseverance.

David never passed up a good auction sale. He enjoyed the thrill of the bid and camaraderie of neighbors, and the chance to bring home a good find. His favorite things to do were swathing oats, raking hay, and combining grain. Despite the demands of farm life, he always made time for his family, sharing stories, and watching his children and grandchildren grow. His steady presence, practical wisdom, and generous spirit will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife Donna Lewandowski of 48 years, David (Jennifer) Lewandowski of Summit, South Dakota, Chris Lewandowski of Summit, South Dakota, Aaron (Rebecca) Lewandowski of Waubay, South Dakota, Kim Jensen of Watertown, South Dakota, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. His was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Malinda, and his infant brother
