David Roth 71 of Webster died on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Webster. His funeral is at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 17, 2017 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Marion Grimes will officiate. Burial with military rites will be at Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday 5-7 P.M. and prior to the service on Friday. David Roth was born on September 20, 1946 to Dewey and Arlene (McMahon) Roth, Sr. at Webster, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Webster and attended Webster Public School. After he received his education he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. He was stationed at several bases encluding Ft. Lewis, Washington. While in the service he was united in marriage to Linda Bean at Mullan, Idaho. After his discharge the couple returned to Webster where he was a Deputy Sherriff for Day County, later they moved to Milbank where he served as a Milbank City Policeman for six years then returned to Webster to the City Police Department. In 1984 they moved to Las Vegas where he worked in the security department of the Sand’s Casino. They returned to Webster and worked for the Webster City Police Department until retirement in 2011. Dave enjoyed following NASCAR and U.N.L.V. sports. He was an avid reader and visiting with friends, family and, of course, his grandchildren. David passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017 at his home in Webster, South Dakota at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 24 days. Survivors include his wife, Linda of Webster; three sons, Shane Roth of Las Vegas, NV, Jesse (Sara) Roth of Auburn, IN and David Roth of Sioux Falls, SD; three daughters, LeAnn Branum of Las Vegas, NV, Kelly (Nevin) Patton of Brooklyn, NY and Misty (Marc) Hernandes of Las Vegas, NV; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Myron and Dewey, Jr., and four sisters, Bonnie Larson, Joan Mathiason, Kay Ackerman and Lolly Bauer.
