Debra Pies, 63, of Webster died April 8, 2022, at the Sanford Hospital in Webster after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22 at 10:30 am at American Lutheran Church in Webster. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, April 21 at the funeral home.
Debra Jane Pies was born to Lillian (Johnson) and Edward Pies Nov. 2, 1958 at the Peabody Hospital in Webster. She was baptized and confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Webster. Debbie grew up on the family farm in rural Webster and began her education at the North Webster country school. After its closing, she continued her schooling at Webster and graduated from Webster High School in 1978. During her younger years Debbie enjoyed participating in a variety of activities including 4-H and Special Olympics.
After high school Debbie lived in group living communities primarily in Aberdeen. While there, she worked various jobs at the Adjustment Training Center and in the Aberdeen community. She enjoyed spending holidays and vacations with her family in Webster.
In 2012, due to health issues, Debbie moved to the Bethesda Nursing Home in Webster. She loved the people there and took part in the entertainments and activities. She especially liked doing puzzles and keeping up with the Minnesota Vikings and Twins.
Debbie is survived by her siblings Tim (Birgit), Spokane, WA; Sally, Volga; Melinda (Steve) Zimmerer, Plattsmouth, NE; and Barbara (JD) Broderius, Greeley, CO; as well as nieces Jamie (Nick) Dethlefs, Abbie Zimmerer, and Katie (Brennen) Bashus, all of Plattsmouth, NE; Kathryn Broderius, Greeley, Co; and nephew William Broderius, Greeley, CO.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Lillian Pies, and grandparents Edward and Ella Pies and Jacob and Anna Johnson all of Webster.
