WATERTOWN- Dorothea Lawrence, 96 of Watertown and formerly of Webster died on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. John Hisel of the United Methodist Church in Webster. Inurnment will be in the Webster Cemetery. Fiksdalfuneral.com. Dorothea Suvilla Fick was born on Saturday, January 10, 1914 to Charles and Nora (Krueger) Fick at Webster, South Dakota. The family lived on a farm in Wheatland Township, southeast of Webster. The family moved to North Dakota for a short time and then returned to the Webster area. She attended country school and graduated from Webster High School in 1932. On July 25, 1933 she was united in marriage to Henry Sudman at the United Methodist parsonage in Webster. The couple made their home and spent 38 years farming in Highland and Rusk Townships south of Webster. In 1972 they moved to Watertown and they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary just prior to Henrys death in 1974. Dorothea was an active member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She also enjoyed being a part of the Highland Township Club, a ladies social group. The couple traveled extensively when he was a director of Lake Region Electric Association. She enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren. She married Arthur Lawrence in 1979 and spent winters in Texas for many years at Arthurs home there, but resided in Watertown before entering Jenkins Living Center. Dorothea passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Watertown, South Dakota at the age of 96 years, 10 months and 25 days. Survivors include her husband, Arthur of Watertown; her two children, Gerald Sudman of Sparta, WI and Shirley Gugin of Waukesha, WI; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three step-children, seven step-grandchildren, several step-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, an infant son, a granddaughter, one sister and four brothers.
