Ethel "Violet" Rebelske

Ethel "Violet" Rebelske 85 of Bristol and formerly of Waubay passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday November 10, 2018 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. Private services will be held. Condolences may be sent in c/o Renee Kwasniewski 14120 428th Ave Webster, SD 57274 Violet Andreason was born January 25, 1933 to Swedish immigrants Oscar and Astrid (Lilja) Andreason at the family house in Addison, Illinois. She lived with her family in Illinois until 1947 when the family moved to Waubay, South Dakota. In 1952 she graduated from Waubay High School. She attended college at Northern State Teachers School and received a teaching certificate in 1953. She taught rural school near Florence for one year. Violet moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1953 and began working for Prudential Life Insurance. She often talked about riding the train to work in Chicago at Prudential Life Company. Violet moved to Watertown, SD in 1954 and was employed by Midland National Life Insurance Company. On July 27, 1954 she married Darrold Rebelske at Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Waubay. They made their home in Waubay. In May of 1955 Violet began working at the SD Department of Agriculture, Stabilization and Conservation Office. She held the position of loan clerk for 32 years until her retirement in 1987. She enjoyed traveling the country and state to attend conventions of the National Association of County Office Employees, of which she was a member. After retirement she spent time with her grandsons and enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flower garden, and baking. She especially enjoyed trying new recipes and making holiday treats. She is survived by: her husband, Darrold of Bristol, one daughter Renee (Loren) Kwasniewski, Webster; three grandsons Jamie (Nikki), Brett (Nicole), and Derek (Abby) all of Webster, two great-grandsons Ben and Riley and two great-granddaughters Kara and Kala. She is also survived by her youngest sister Gladys (Allan) Anderson of Baker, Tennessee and friends Amelia Murschel, Marlys Clausen and Joanne Weber. She was preceded in death by three infant children, her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
