Helene Marcella Eisenbraun was born on August 4, 1941, to Walter and Evelyn (Reiss) Roitsch in Bristol, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. Helene attended Bristol High School, graduating in 1959, and went on to study at Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen.

Following her education, Helene began her teaching career in Isabel, South Dakota, and spent her summers working at Wall Drug. It was there that she met, Martin Eisenbraun. The couple was united in marriage on August 4, 1962, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol.

Helene and Martin made their home in several communities before settling on a farm north of Butler, South Dakota, where they raised their six children: Mike, Jeff, Patty, Tim, Vicki, and Nancy. During these years, Helene devoted herself to raising her family

In the late 1970s, the family moved to Webster. Helene then began working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role she held with compassion and dedication. In 1994, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. Though she had achieved her teaching degree, Helene chose to remain in Webster and continued her work as a CNA until her retirement in 2003.

Helene found great joy in reading, embroidering, ceramics, spending time with friends visiting over a cup of coffee at Pereboom’s and playing cards. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the VFW Auxiliary. Recently, as her health declined, she moved to Strand-Kjorsvig Nursing Home in Roslyn.

Helene passed away at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 84 years, 7 months, and 29 days.
