WEBSTER – Jacob “Jake” McGrath 39 of Webster passed away Friday March 1, 2019 at Sanford Hospital Webster.
Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday March 9, 2019 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. Mike DeKraai will officiate.

Jacob Jeremy McGrath was born on December 6, 1979 to Vi McGrath-Adams at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He grew up in Hill City, South Dakota until moving to Webster. Jake graduated from Webster High School in 1998.
On March 1, 2005, he married his forever love Jody Chastain-LaDue. The couple made their home in Webster. Jake worked various jobs in the Webster area including welding, auto repair, and bar tending. Jake’s passion was to pursue a career in law enforcement. He obtained the necessary training and served on the Webster City Police Department as well as a Day County Deputy Sheriff. Jake also worked as an instructor at the Law Enforcement Police Academy out in Pierre, South Dakota as well as a dispatcher for the Roberts County Sheriff Department in Sisseton, South Dakota.
Jake enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being a tattoo artist. He had a kind heart and a gentle soul. He was always willing to help a friend or stranger.
Jake passed away Friday March 1, 2019 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 39 years, two months, and 23 days.
He will be forever loved and greatly missed by his wife Jody of Webster, one son Zachary LaDue of Aberdeen, SD, three sisters; Valerie McGrath of Hartley, IA, Terrie McGrath and Kerrie McGrath-Hawkinson both of Hoven, in-laws; Jack and Terry Chastain of Webster, SD and sister-in-law Kim Chastain of Webster, SD as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vi McGrath-Adams.
