Janice Aadland, 74 of Roslyn died on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Strand-Kjorsvig Rest Home in Roslyn. Her funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Skudesnes Lutheran Church near Pierpont, Rev. Jan FitzGibbon will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Wednesday. Janice Marguriete Hanson was born on Tuesday, June 15, 1937 to John and Marjorie (Thone) Hanson at Peabody Hospital in Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Roslyn Lutheran Church. She grew up in Roslyn and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1955. She then attended business school in Watertown and worked at a law firm there. On December 14, 1956 she was united in marriage to Orlin Aadland at Roslyn. After their marriage the couple farmed near Pierpont. In 1969 they moved to Lander, Wyoming where she worked in medical records and was office manager for an optometrist. They returned to the farm near Pierpont in 1975 and worked for Security Bank in Roslyn, managed the Blue Denim in Eden and worked for Dakotah, Inc. in Veblen until her retirement in 1994. Orlin passed away April 1990 and after his death moved to Roslyn. In September 2002 she entered Sun Dial Manor in Bristol for a short time and then moved to Strand-Kjorsvig Rest Home in Roslyn where she has resided since. She was a member of Skudesnes Lutheran Church near Pierpont. She loved gardening, sewing, canning, especially hot green beans, crocheting, knitting and collecting swans. In her younger years she made cakes for many special occasions and weddings. Janice passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 29 days. Survivors include two sons, Gary (Beth) Aadland of Pierpont, SD and Jay (Mary) Aadland of Webster, SD; one daughter, Carol (Dana) Reed of Casper, WY; three sisters, Shirley Smith of Lander, WY, Sheila (Gary) VanMeter of Sheridan, WY and Nancy Rinn of Casper, WY; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers
