Jean Carol Breske, 56 of Brookings and formerly of Summit died on Thursday, January 08, 2015 at her residence in Brookings.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. Daniel Ostercamp will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date at Lakewood Cemetery in Waubay.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 A.M. until service time.
Jean Carol Breske was born on Wednesday, April 2, 1958 to Harry and Margaret (Schmig) Breske at Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on November 17, 2013 in Brookings.
At the age of five, Jean attended Redfield State Hospital and School. She remained there until 1982 when she moved to Mitchell. In 1993 Jean moved to Brookings. She worked at The Sheltered Work Shop at Advance. She was involved in Special Olympics.
Jean enjoyed wearing make-up, getting dressed up, going to dances and movies and listening to music. She loved the outdoors, going to the zoo, nature parks, fishing, watching birds and her cat, Mr. Magoo. In addition to the outdoors, she liked to go shopping, on van rides, baking, watching Animal Planet and baseball. Her love for Minnie and Mickey Mouse allowed her to take a trip to Disney Land in 1998. Jean was always happy and content and always had a smile on her face.
She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was always excited to see her family when she went home for the holidays. She had a love for babies and kids. Later in life, her health restricted her from going home for the holidays. Jean touched the lives of many people.
Jean passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Brookings, South Dakota at the age of 56 years, 9 months and 6 days.
Grateful for having shared her life are her mother, Margaret Breske of Summit; siblings, May (Galen) Gibson of Webster, Larry Breske of Summit, SD, Lisa (Larry) Erickson, Linda (Thomas) Fitting, Debra Breske and Tony (Gwen) Breske all of Watertown; numerous nieces and nephews; all the special staff and residents that touched her life while she was at Yorkshire in Brookings, especially Joni, Kelly and Kathy. She was preceded in death by her father, two brothers, Edward and Gene, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
